Job Purpose

The Program Coordinator is responsible for creating and assisting the production of high-quality, scientifically accurate materials and supporting cross-programmatic efforts under both the AskNature and Innovation teams. The central focus of this role is community building and engagement, serving as the primary point of contact for all AskNature Hive users, supporting technical tasks in AskNature podcast production, and other programs that focus on our impact communities. This position is critical to amplifying cross-program content offerings to enable the adoption of nature-inspired solutions.

Essential Functions

  • AskNature Hive Community Coordination:
    • Support AskNature team by overseeing the onboarding of new AskNature Hive community members and managing communication for all users.
    • Work with the Program Manager and Program Director to implement an ongoing strategy for Hive external outreach and internal community engagement.
    • Collect and analyze platform and participant data on a regular basis.
    • Coordinate logistics for program offerings, including virtual and in-person events.
  • AskNature Podcast Production and Content Support:
    • Provide support for the AskNature podcast production pipeline from pre-production to post-launch.
    • Conduct in-depth research to support episode content and guest scheduling.
    • Verify all factual information presented in the podcast to ensure accuracy.
    • Assist with the audio editing and production tasks and curate audio assets to ensure technical quality.
    • Collaborate with the team on creative implementation and logistics.
  • General AskNature Program and Content Support:
    • Assist in the creation of high-quality and scientifically accurate content for AskNature.
    • Follow, document, and support project management practices through Asana, Airtable, and other digital tools.
  • General program support
    • Support and coordinate tasks for our innovation programs: Ray of Hope Accelerator, Biomimicry Co-labs, and emerging programs
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  • BA in a related field and 2+ years of combined experience in science communications, analytics and/or audio visual. 
    • Specific knowledge of biomimicry is encouraged; new hires without this experience will be asked to complete training (e.g. fundamentals course) in biomimicry. 
  • Experience synthesizing and disseminating information through multiple distribution channels.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the social media landscape, with an understanding of community activation and engagement.
  • Experience in digital amplification of mission-based programs is a plus.

 Skills/Abilities
  • Comfortable learning and using the digital tools the Biomimicry Institute uses—with little to no assistance, and willing to try out new technologies and work tools.  G-Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency with Excel required. Virtual meeting software, Asana, Box, Slack, and Zoom are helpful.
  • Confident, energetic, and dedicated to the mission of the Biomimicry Institute.
  • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organizational and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making. Keeps track of responsibilities and meets deadlines and goals.
  • Adaptable—manages a constantly changing remote work environment; learns to collaborate with geographically dispersed new team members, etc.
  • Clear, direct, and succinct writer.
  • Self-sufficient—takes the initiative and completes work without undue supervision
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills. Ensures every team member is given a chance to speak.
